A CUSTOM visual EXPERIENCE FOR the BJJ Athlete

Competition Photo Package

You know better than anyone the time, training, and recovery that goes into your competition prep. Rather than just focusing on how cool you looked in the matches you get on the platform in pure action shots, I focus on fully capturing the raw emotional journey you put in to get to that mat (the open mats, strength training, maybe the occasional run, peaking, and tapering) with my photography!

Photo Package Options

Everyone deserves to have their emotional journey on the platform captured. I offer two packages to do this. In addition to the traditional action shots, both packages will include shots unique to you to tell the whole story. E.g.: Warmups, side interactions, and reactions. The main difference between the two packages will be in how many of your actual lift attempts get edited and delivered: best attempts vs. all.

Lean Competition Story

  • 20-30 edited photos cropped for IG feed
  • Includes beyond-the-platform moments
  • Best lifts only (minimum 2 white lights)

$ 95 + HST

Full Competition Story

  • 30-40 edited photos cropped for IG feed
  • Includes beyond-the-platform moments
  • All lift attempts (regardless of success)

$ 120 + HST

Fully Document Your Biggest Day in BJJ

To fully capture your raw athlete journey to the platform, in addition to the must-have action shots, I will include shots unique to you to tell the whole story. The way you warm up, interactions with your coach or handler, how you get locked in before stepping onto that platform, and of course the way you react when you succeed at or miss a lift. These moments are all part of the journey and are all worth capturing.

Hey, my name is Thuy Doan

Black and white flash portrait in studio of a young Asian adult woman looking relaxed and gazing off to the side.

In addition to being a photographer, I'm also an athlete that competes - just like you.

As a competitor, I craved being captured in a way that actually represented how it felt to be competing - sending it after putting in the work, (trying to) trust the process, and not sleeping well after trying really hard to. So as a photographer, I want to offer the experience I wanted to give myself, as well as other athletes who also value the emotional story-telling experience.

FAQ

Will you capture all of my matches?

Regardless of whether you choose Lean or Full Competition Story, I will be shooting all your lifts. The difference between the two is in Lean you get edited photos of your best attempts only (the heaviest lift you got at least two white lights on) for the snatch and the clean and jerk. If you choose Full Competition Story, you get at least one photo for every lift attempt you make.

What if I have no competitors or withdraw from injury?

It would depend on when you get disqualified.

Will you be recording video of my matches?

No, I will not. At this time, I am not offering video as a part of my competition packages. However, I want to and might in the future! It depends on demand and logistics, really.

How long will it take to get my photos?

Why do I have to prepay for photos?

With my packages, I curate a photography experience for you.

Will I be able to purchase photos after if I don't book ahead?
